Illustration depicting the zodiac sign of Virgo. According to astrology, Virgos are logical, practical, and systematic in their approach to life. Historically, Virgo is represented by the goddess of wheat and agriculture, which the Greeks associated with Demeter. For my version, I chose to surround her by flowers and tiny creatures, associating the image to Virgo’s attention to detail.
This is a personal illustration for a series named “Celestial Letters”, inspired by zodiac signs, based on the “Illustration of the Copernican system”, by Andreas Cellarius, 1661.
The image was created using traditional media – watercolor and colored pencil – and later edited in Photoshop for final use.
