“Looking-glass, Looking-glass, on the wall
Who in this land is the fairest of all?”
This is a personal project. My version of Little Snow White, the Grimm’s Tale, as if it was a bigger book. The image was created using traditional media – watercolor and colored pencil – and later edited in Photoshop for final use.
Paper: Hahnemühle Leonardo hot pressed
Watercolor: Turner Artist’s Watercolor
Colored pencil: Derwent Lightfast & Procolour
Original painting size: 8,4 × 12,6 in

Moodboard
For creating this piece, I used many references from the Star Ethereal, from the Ethereal Typology of image consultant Olga Brylińska. I also chose a Soft Gamine (from David Kibbe’s theory) look for this character.
Chosen characteristics/elements for the composition:
- Big eyes and an innocent face to convey the personality from the original tale;
- Adult woman with a “teenage look” (thus a Soft Gamine);
- A bit of a dark mood for the overall tone of the story.
From the Star Ethereal Typology:
- Lines based on circles and ovals;
- Colors: black, dark red, burgundy, dark green (I discarded that later), focus on color depth;
- Portrait neckline, lace, ruby for jewelry.
